Welcome
I decided that I needed to speak out in order to better protect my personal rights and my property rights and, by extension, the personal rights and property rights of all county residents. The current Commissioners recent deliberations and/or decisions on: "tax rebates"; the Livability Code; contributions to certain non-profit organizations; the emergency communications system; the property tax rate; paying a non-employee for not working for 111 days; work force housing; the rural rezoning; the purchase of permanent agricultural preservation easements; and on other issues were quite troubling to me. I realized that I was looking at the Commissioners' agenda on the Internet every week just to see what mischief they were planning to get into that would adversely affect me.
I believe that "that government is best which governs least" and that "big government is bad for good people." Our current governments at the Federal, State, and County levels have not served us as well as they could have and, as a result, we are not as well prepared to meet future challenges as we should be.
Slogans are great for rallying people to a cause but voters should be told what the candidates plan to do if elected. I will consistently vote to lower taxes and spending. I will vote to eliminate some of the county's laws and fees. I will protect the personal rights and property rights of all county residents. I will be frugal with the county's funds. I will not run for reelection--four years is long enough to be a Commissioner. The last five sentences cover a lot of territory.
